As this is our first blog on the website, we thought it would be prudent to introduce you to ourselves and let you know what we are, what we stand for, and what we do.

Who we are

We are a construction management company located in Kelowna working on projects in the BC interior. Well, that’s more what we do, but in fairness what we do has a lot to do with who we are. 

Our company was founded by Mario Scuka over 50 years ago and has since been taken over by Dan Scuka in 1991. Dan Scuka is our fierce leader and has construction running through his veins. His passion for the industry is infectious and helps us recruit some of the most skilled and passionate people in the industry. The round table meetings we have with all departments are filled with ideation, innovation, and ways to best serve our clientele. At the end of the day, we build projects for you and we do everything in our power to get your project completed on time and budget to your satisfaction. 

In fact, our brand promise is this: A relentless commitment to project success.

What we stand for

You’ve had a glimpse of what we stand for in our brand promise, but it’s more than that to us. We’re passionate about making sure everyone has a home. That’s one of the reasons why we specialize in multi-family and mixed-use projects on the residential side. 

In fact, we’ve delivered over 1800 units to the market through BC Housing who is a partnering agency that works with societies to help deliver homes to the underserved population through subsidized housing.

What we do

By now you have the brass tacks on what we do, but you probably don’t know that we also develop our own land too. What does this mean to you, and why should you care? Well, it means that we have intimate knowledge of the development process from both sides of the coin. We understand that the bottom line is important. We know what is needed to get financing. We know feasibility studies. In essence, we know the entire development process from ideation to turning the key, and the knowledge is invaluable.

In the community

Over the years we’ve found innovative ways to give back to the community. We’re proud to say we were the first partner in Canada to deliver a down payment grant program for housing purchases. This was accomplished through negotiating partnerships with trades and suppliers, as well as working with CMHC for program approval.

This grant structure afforded several families the ability to own homes that would have otherwise been denied funding. We believe innovative programs like this allow projects to thrive and empower families to become homeowners.

Keeping with the times

We might be over half a century old, but you wouldn’t know it. We make sure to constantly push the envelope to find the perfect balance between knowledge, processes, and technology. That’s why we leverage one of the world’s leading project management software products called Procore.

This allows the team to have live information from sites, RFIs go directly to the correct team members and can be addressed instantly. What does this mean for your project? Efficiency, and efficiency means time and money savings, which is music to all of our ears.
